Enamel powders are pigmented glass which is ground very fine and then applied
to Copper or Fine Silver and fired in an electric kiln. Each enamel design is built up in layers and undergoes several
firings in the kiln at 1500 degrees Fahrenheit from 2-5 minutes each. When fired, the enamel fuses to the metal surface
it is applied to. Each firing is closely monitored for temperature and time. Different colors tolerate higher
or lower firing temperatures. Adjusting the length of time and/or temperature a piece is fired will result in unique
appearances and textures.
